Matthew Paris compiled and illustrated this chronicle of English history from the Creation to his death in 1259. This seven-volume edition of the Latin text was published between 1872 and 1883. Volume 2, covering 1067 to 1216, is derived mainly from Roger of Wendover's Flores historiarum.
