Matthew Paris compiled and illustrated this chronicle of English history from the Creation to his death in 1259. This seven-volume edition was published between 1872 and 1883. Volume 3 covers the years 1216–39 and, up to around 1235, is derived mainly from Roger of Wendover's Flores historiarum.
