Semiologies of Travel : From Gautier to Baudrillard

Omtale

This is the first book to explore comprehensively the role of semiology in the encounter with foreign cultures as expressed in French travel writing. Focusing on writers of the last two hundred years, it shows how politics, sociology and semiotics, as well as literature are bound up in travel experience.
