The contribution of critical criminology and sociology to the analysis of human trafficking has offered important insights into the limits of the dominant international and national counter trafficking framework and has identified the importance of locating the analysis within the broader context of the intersection of gender, globalisation, cross border crime measures, migration control, and contemporary forms of criminalisation. In this book, Marie Segrave argues that attention and efforts need to shift away from human trafficking to instead examine and focus on exploitative practices that arise in the migration process.This book challenges how we conceive of the responsibilities and obligations of destination countries in assisting non citizens who become victims of all forms of labour exploitation and to consider the role of nations in contributing to a context within which trafficking and exploitation in all its forms may proliferate.
