Stories for Maths: KS1: Half a Picnic (Fractions)

Ralf and Netty go on a picnic, but things don't quite go to plan ... Some of their grapes fall in the mud, a duck steals one of their sandwiches, and the rain makes some of their muffins wet and soggy. Then Ralf has an idea to save their picnic. They can still have a whole lot of fun, even with half a picnic! Stories for Maths helps develop maths mastery through the power of story. This series aligns with the White Rose Maths schemes of learning. Each book has questions at the bottom of the pages and an activity page at the end of the story, which help to draw out that learning by asking questions and encouraging talk about maths. Key maths words and phrases are also highlighted in each book, further helping to deepen understanding and grow children's mathematical skills. The books in Year 1/Primary 2 are designed for an adult to read to a child, although there is some decodable text that children may be able to read themselves.
