The publications of the Hakluyt Society (founded in 1846) made available edited (and sometimes translated) early accounts of exploration. This volume, published in 1880, contains two guides to navigation written by the explorer John Davis (c.1543–1605) and accounts of his 1580s voyages in search of the North-West Passage.
