Milton, Haiti and Revolutionary Tragic Thought

Omtale

Juxtaposing two moments never brought together before – Milton's writings of the English Civil War and anticolonial narratives of the Haitian Revolution – this innovative book radically re-reads them both. Its new, politicised account of tragedy emphasises the form's creative potential to imagine new freedoms and rethink the world we live in.
