For more than a century the life and achievemnts of Norwegian polar explorer Roald Amundsen have captivated us. As Norwegians we love him more than dried lamb ribs, waffles with brown cheese or lingonberry cream. Simply yummy! Amundsen went further north and south than anyone before him. A great part of our modern history was written in his snowy footprints. Now in the 21st century however, we are blessed with the concept of alternative facts. As historians we are no longer burdened by having to tell the same story over and over again just because it happens to be the truth.
