Omtale

A young boy runs through the biting cold towards the greedy flames that leap up and lick the skies. Smoke blankets the small town and he can barely see the people who are shouting and screaming. He runs through the smoke, calling for his mother. «Get the boy out of the way!» someone shouts. A strong arm locks around his neck and pulls him back into a house. Here he is told to wait. He meets his mother again seventeen years later. All that time she has been imprisoned in Trondheim jail and has a story to tell ... The novel tries to answer how the tragedy that happened in Kautokeino one cold day in November 1852 could happen.
