Zevi Takes the Plunge

Omtale

This short, high-interest, low-reading-level book about thirteen-year-old Zevi who struggles with his psychic powers is an excellent choice for teen readers who are building reading skills, want a quick read or say they don't like to read! After Zevi uses his psychic powers to stop the murder of a famous actor, his parents send him off to Camp Spirit, a summer camp for psychics. While making friends at camp, he senses that something very bad is going to happen. And it's not just Zevi who is having premonitions--all of the campers are, and none of the adults take their warnings seriously. As the campers begin to track down the source of their visions, they're led to someone who needs their help urgently. It's up to Zevi and his new friends to use their unique powers, overcome their fears and save the day. Praise for Zevi Takes the Spotlight: "Zevi is Jewish, and this important part of his identity is skillfully woven throughout the narrative. This hi-lo title excels in the genre, packaging an accessible, dyslexia-friendly text with a compelling plot and likeable protagonist whose journey readers will happily follow. Highly recommended." -- School Library Journal, starred review
