Fair Isle, surrounded by a savage sea, is teeming with bird life, grazing sheep, restless rabbits and a handful of bipeds. In colours ground from the pebbles on the island’s bays; in the foamy lace washed ashore by the Atlantic; and in words from the birds’ own beaks, this book seeks to give this tiny universe a voice of its own.
