William McCall is trying to figure out how he got into this mess - alone, ashamed and kicked out into the cold. Realising that he must face the past in order to restore his faith in himself, he spends six days looking back over his life, examining the events that led to his downward spiral. He is forced to confront memories and feelings that he has kept buried - a painful, pivotal relationship, several emasculating incidents, countless bad decisions, myriad insecurities and fears - that have chipped away at his personality, leaving him bitter and cynical.
