The Singer's anthology of American standards : mezzo-soprano/alto

Omtale

The Singer's Anthology of American Standards is designed for vocalists seeking a refined and historically grounded repertoire drawn from classic American songwriting. Ideal for students, teachers, and experienced singers, this collection supports private study, voice lessons, auditions, and recital preparation with material that emphasizes musical style and vocal expression. This vocal songbook features carefully selected standards from the Great American Songbook era, spanning the 1920s through the early 1960s. Songs are edited specifically for mezzo-soprano and alto voices, with thoughtfully chosen keys that respect vocal range and tone. Unlike traditional piano vocal editions, the piano accompaniments do not double the vocal melody, allowing singers greater interpretive freedom and independence. Each selection includes a historical note that provides valuable context about the song's origin and notable performers associated with it. These insights deepen musical understanding and help singers connect stylistically with the material. The clear engraving and professional editing make this book an effective resource for both learning and performance-focused practice. This collection helps develop phrasing, stylistic awareness, and confident vocal delivery while strengthening sight reading and musical interpretation skills. It is widely valued as a music teacher resource and is equally suitable for singers building a versatile audition repertoire or exploring classic American vocal literature.Song ListAll The Things You Are * Bewitched * Blame It On My Youth * Blue Skies * But Not For Me * Embraceable You * Evry Time We Say Goodbye * Fly Me To The Moon * A Foggy Day * God Bless America * He Was Too Good To Me * How Deep Is The Ocean * I Love A Piano * Ill Be Seeing You * Ive Got A Crush On You * In The Still Of The Night * Love Is Here To Stay * and more.
