The demands of today’s schools require implementing instructional, behavioral, assessment, and organizational methods that differ from those used in the past. For schools to make these changes teachers must incorporate new methods and different teaching approaches. The purpose of this book is to provide the rationale, guidelines, and evidence-based methods that educational specialists (school psychologists, school counselors, speech/language specialists, special educators, and school administrators) can use to support teachers and, thereby, school effectiveness. It doesn’t tell teachers and schools what to do. Rather it provides theoretical support and practical strategies that educational specialists and schools can use to identify, implement, adapt, and sustain effective teacher support strategies. Unique to this text is an evidence-based professional learning model that helps educational specialists determine the best way to help teachers help children.
