Thomas Carlyle (1795–1881) was one of the most influential authors of the nineteenth century. His introduction of German literature and philosophy into Victorian society profoundly influenced later philosophical and literary ideas. Volume 7 of this 1896 edition of his works contains the second volume of Oliver Cromwell's Letters and Speeches.
