The bluestockings met regularly to debate contemporary ideas in mid-eighteenth-century Britain, uniquely promoting new links between women, learning and virtue in the public imagination. This is the first academic and interdisciplinary volume to concentrate on the rich visual culture that surrounded and supported the bluestocking project.
