The Cruise of HMS Calliope in China, Australian and East African Waters, 1887–1890

Omtale

Arthur Cornwallis Evans (1860–1935) was chaplain on HMS Calliope on a voyage to Asia, Australasia and the Pacific from 1887 to 1890. This highly readable, informal account, published in 1890, vividly describes the bustling ports Calliope visited, daily routines, and events including a solar eclipse and Sydney's centennial celebrations.
