Syntactic word formation in Northern Sami

The focus of this study is derived causative and passive verbs. Data from Northern Sami and from a number of other languages are drawn upon to show that causative constructions are syntactically different from apparently similar constructions involving a monomorphemic verb, and that the syntactic properties of morphological causatives can be taken to reflect their underlying biclausal nature.
