English physician William George Maton (1774–1835) made contributions to many branches of science, especially botany. In addition to a biographical sketch by colleague John Ayrton Paris (c.1785–1856) published in 1838, this work also includes Maton's work on the flora and fauna of Wiltshire, published posthumously in 1843.
