As leader of the Oxford Movement, John Henry Newman (1801–90) was a controversial religious figure. Addressing salvation through faith, obedience, righteousness, Christ's resurrection, and the role of rites and works as well as preaching, these lectures, published in 1838, record Newman's journey towards becoming a Roman Catholic in 1845.
