A respected and prolific scholar of the twelfth century, Alexander Neckam (1157–1217) produced many works on science, grammar and theology. Originally published in 1863, the texts reissued here comprise a compendium of the scientific knowledge of the day, and a treatise on theology, in prose and verse form.
