First published in 1783, this work by French geologist Barthélemy Faujas de Saint-Fond (1741–1819) discusses the pioneering aerostatic experiments carried out by the Montgolfier brothers. Illustrated with several fine engravings, the work brought to a wider audience the birth of the hot air balloon.
