This lively 1860 account of a critical period in Italian history deliberately avoids the usual travellers' descriptions to describe day-to-day events in Naples at the time when Garibaldi had arrived in the city. However, some picturesque notes, including the 'miracle' of the liquefaction of St Gennaro's blood, are also included.
