Originally published in 1988, Solid Ground presents extracts, stories and poems by women writers from a variety of countries, including India, China, Egypt, South America, South Africa. The collection includes autobiographical writing. It provides a fascinating insight into individuals’ struggles for identity and freedom in different social and political situations. Solid Ground was particularly suitable for students following GCSE (Mature) and AS English syllabuses at the time and today could still be used a valuable study aid.
