This new collection of papers from the Cultural Disorder project demonstrates various ways in which the concerns of sociology intersect with those of aesthetic disciplines. The contributions range from a study of practitioners in today's British "culture industry" to an essay on the 1999 Biennale in Venice as a sign of the times in the art world; from a discussion of Sigfried Kracauer's understanding of "mass culture" to thoughts inspired by Pierre Bourdieu on "taste games" among young people; from a study of a particular art exhibition in New York to an investigation of cultural tastes among students in Bergen, Norway.
