Omtale
In the 19th century, British collections were private, however, gradually, many turned into publicly available collections. As the discipline of archaeology in Egypt became a scholarly pursuit, museums sponsored their own expeditions in order to fill their stores, collecting in order to possess the past, both physically and ideologically.
